Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 17, 2026

Academy of Music – Milton (“we” or “us”) teaches music lessons at 555 Main St. E., Unit 7, Milton, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, online booking and phone line, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information we collect

  • When you contact us: our contact form asks for your name, your student’s name, your phone number, your email address, a subject and your message. The form does not save your IP address.
  • When you book a Free Evaluation or trial class: our booking page, run by Calendly, asks for your name, email address and phone number, plus your student’s name and age, their playing experience, the instrument they’re interested in, whether you have an instrument at home, the days you’re available, any comments, and the email addresses of any guests you add.
  • When you call us from one of our Google ads: Google shares details about the call with us, such as when it happened, how long it lasted and the caller’s phone number, so we can see which ads work.
  • When you register for lessons: we collect the information we need to schedule and run lessons and to bill you.
  • When you visit our website: our site uses cookies and similar technologies. See “Advertising and cookies” below.

How we use your information

  • To answer your questions and book evaluations and lessons
  • To send booking confirmations and reminders by email and text message
  • To run our lessons and programs and to bill for them
  • To measure and improve our online advertising
  • To keep our website secure and free of spam

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run our business. They handle information on our behalf:

  • Google: advertising and ad measurement, the map on our Contact page, and website fonts
  • Calendly: online booking, confirmations and reminders
  • Microsoft: email and calendar
  • GoDaddy: website hosting, plus tools that measure our website’s traffic and performance
  • Akismet (Automattic): spam filtering for our contact form. To spot spam, it checks what you submit, including your IP address.

These companies may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also share information when the law requires it.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google Ads, including remarketing, to advertise our lessons online.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, show our ads on sites across the internet.
  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and/or device identifiers to show ads based on someone’s past visits to our website.
  • The Google tag on our website tells us when an ad leads to a booking, a call or a message. When you send our contact form, the tag may also turn your email address into a scrambled code (a “hash”) before it’s sent to Google, so Google can match your message to an ad click. Google uses this to measure and improve our ad results and does not share it with other advertisers.

Your choices:

Our ads are aimed at parents and adult students. We collect information about younger students from their parents or guardians, not from the children themselves.

Links and embedded content

Our Contact page shows an embedded Google Map, and our pages link to our YouTube, Facebook and Instagram pages. Those services have their own privacy policies.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires (for example, for tax records). After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How we protect it

We use reasonable safeguards, including secure (HTTPS) connections, password-protected accounts, security software on our website, and access limited to the people who need it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent (for example, to stop reminders or marketing messages). Withdrawing consent may mean we can’t provide some services. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at 1-800-282-1376.
